I recently added the below image and caption to the Trombone History Timeline (19th century—2nd half).
In the story, two French acrobats, about to embark on a journey by sea, need to pack light, taking with them only the essentials. However, one character decides to include his trombone and wrestling suit, the other his cornet and acrobat’s costume, because, as the narrator explains, “It would have been too much for them to part with such old friends that reminded them of so many triumphs and successes.”
