The Requiem of Reconciliation, a collaborative effort involving 14 composers, is written to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of World War II. In Movement I, Prolog, contributed by Luciano Berio, trombone blasts represent the shofar, a Hebrew ram’s horn played on Jewish High Holidays (Chase 498).
