Friedrich Alwin Heckel makes an alto trombone in E-flat. The instrument is now held in the National Music Museum in South Dakota. The museum points out the title of “Royal Saxon Court Instrument Maker (Königlich Sächsischer Hofinstrumentenmacher)” and remarks that this instrument “constitutes a nicely preserved example of the type of romantic German trombones being manufactured at the turn of the century” (nmmusd.org).
