Johann Joseph Fux composes the antiphon Alma Redemptoris for soprano voice and trombone. It contains one of the longest and most elaborate solos in a vocal work in the early trombone literature. The full score includes trombone, 2 violins, soprano voice, and continuo (Wigness 28).
