A ledger for Bethlehem’s Moravian church records a purchase for a set of trombones from Herrnhut, Germany: “Christiansbrun for cash paid for a Set of Sack Buts.” The designation Sack Buts is unique among Moravian records (Carter, Trombone Ensembles of the Moravian).
