Nürnberger Stadtmusikanten, an illustration by Johann Kramer, includes a brass instrument that is probably a trombone. The back bow of tubing extends past the player’s head, and the slide extends slightly past the bell (see below image; public domain) (German National Museum, Nuremberg).
