At the triumphal entry of Archduke Ernest of Austria, a specially constructed “Theater of Peace” features the 9 Muses, 6 playing cornett, trombone (buisine), triangle, viola da braccio, flute, and gamba, and 3 singing from part books (Bowles, Musical Ensembles 129). Later, in the square facing the city hall, celebrations continue: “fires were lit, to the applause and delight of the city. The number of spectators was no smaller than on the previous day, nor was the combination of cornetts, trumpets, shawms and trombones any more unpleasant, as they caused sleeplessness through almost the entire night (Bowles, Musical Ensembles 130).
