For May Day festivities, shepherds sing the 5-part madrigal, “Oh dolcezza d’Amor soave, e grata,” accompanied by “bowed violas, recorders, lutes, and trombones.” The festival’s closing madrigal, “Vaghe, novelle fronde,” is accompanied by violas, curtals, trombones, and recorders (D’Accone, Civic Muse 703).
