A tenor trombone made by Anton Schnitzer with the date 1576 engraved on the bell is probably the earliest dated instrument by that maker, and the third-oldest signed trombone. The instrument is later discovered inside an organ case in a church in Altötting, Germany in 1903 (Raquet).
