A Mass is celebrated at the Greenwich palace of Henry VIII to mark the reception of the papal bull conferring on the king the title of Fidei Defensor. After the Mass, the bull is read out and “trumpettes blew, the shalmes and saggebuttes plaied in honor of the kynges newe style” (Bowers 204).
