The town wind band, originally employed as a group of town watchmen, includes “two playing shawms, and the third playing the trompette sacqueboutte.” The ensemble, apparently quite renown, appears frequently at festivals in other Belgian cities such as Dendermonde and Mechelen (Polk, Susato 85).
