Giovanni Battista Gisleni’s drawing, Orchestra of Wladyslaw IV Vasa, includes at least one trombone (see center-left of below drawing; public domain). The drawing is a sketch of decorations in the presbytery of Cracow Cathedral for the funeral ceremony of Wladyslaw IV (Poland Baroque, 72).
